In addition to the grade-level advancement programs, Cub Scouting also offers additional programs for personal advancement and satisfaction. The Cub Scout Academic and Sports Loop program provides both an entry-level and an advanced-level of exposure to a wide range of activities.  Cub Scouts who earn the entry-level academic or sports loops receive attractive metal loops worn on the Cub Scout belt.  Cub Scouts who go beyond the entry-level requirements can earn the academic or sports pins. The choice of working on these programs is completely optional with the Cub Scout
